A Façade,

falling to pieces.

left leg seems to have gone hunting

right arm sings soft melodies,

hair, on a detour years ago.

Teeth, dark from Coffee, blueberries

and blessed Red Wine.

The garden demands its tithe

follicles and scraps of skin

scattered among the roses

from unguarded flesh, and

frequent intimacy with thorns.

Band-Aids mark skirmishes

where the thorns took their share.

The skin, thinner now

caressed and seduced by a punishing sun.

freckles, bumps, scrapes,

proliferate on once pristine arms.

there is no doubt,

the earth is calling me home.

by Jim Long

Dilemma

Three breaths ahead of the pain

I etched words

On the back of the cross.

Aware,

that the tawdry show up front

Would obscure the message.

And so

On Golgotha, with a view of forever

The myth was created,

And dreams thwarted

By well meaning

Fools.

The long awaited Book has finally become reality.. Covid put the brakes on for a bit, but our tribute to Don Miller, will be available from Lulu press next week.

Here are two of the Poems in the book. Enjoy, sip a glass of vino and listen for Don's laughter as he critiques our efforts.

Yeah, I know, this photo is on another page, but it's Labor day weekend and I am taking the path of least resistance.

Prose for me flows like remembering a fishing trip, kinda fun, telling what happened, who fell in, who caught what: the weather, the sounds, the events as they occurred.

Poetry gives the reader the outline that they may each fill in their own experience, to personalize it to the degree required. My friend Jim, a true Poet, always says I am scarce with words, but in my mind I am the tour guide, it's the readers' trip.

Words have to carry a burden in poetry; carry a tone, an image.

Songs may or may not be poetic and they can achieve flight and perhaps live on their own as one entity.

In songs, I find the lifting of some of the weight from the words to be freeing, and let the melody direct the action. Both less and more work for the author.

Grocery lists? well, I just wrote one using many of the same words I do in song and poetry, go figure.

Check out new Song, If I Had a Panda on the website, it informs, cajoles, teases and takes off in its own direction.

Enjoy your Sunday, and your groceries

ya know, call anyone and with all the unemployment ,you still get told that due to Covid there are not enough people help. Some of these cables must run internet, some TV, who knows what else. If I pull the wrong one does the Pentagon answer? Can I reach Batman, Captain Kirk Captain Midnight? Do they all go to offshore internet servers?

I have not had a landline in ten years.

I had two lines coming into my house as a kid. One did the phone, the other provided power.

I believe this far exceeds the wiring harness needed for the first Moon Mission, or to fake it if that is your belief. The best word in my vocabulary that applies here is WOW.

Hope this gets through. Enjoy your Labor Day
